A soldier of fortune

I have often told you stories
About the way
I lived the life of a drifter
Waiting for the day
When I'd take your hand
And sing you songs
Then maybe you would say
Come lay with me love me
And I would surely stay

But I feel I'm growing older
And the songs that I have sung
Echo in the distance
Like the sound
Of a windmill goin' 'round
I guess I'll always be
A soldier of fortune

Many times I've been a traveller
I looked for something new
In days of old
When nights were cold
I wandered without you
But those days I thougt my eyes
Had seen you standing near
Though blindness is confusing
It shows that you're not here

Now I feel I'm growing older
And the songs that I have sung
Echo in the distance
Like the sound
Of a windmill goin' 'round
I guess I'll always be
A soldier of fortune
I can hear the sound
Of a windmill goin' 'round
I guess I'll always be
A soldier of fortune

I love

chirping birds, fluttering butterfly, staring owl, jumping frog, running mice, smoky morning, long nights, early sunset, pouring sky, ticking raindrops, colorful umbrellas, soaked leaves, drenched mud, filled potholes, shooting stars, splashing cars, dirty dog, smelly cat, crowing kids, opening doors, closing windows, swinging chair, cozy couches, rusty wall, aging locks, sipping coffee, dipdiping chai, munching pakodas, steaming momos, chocolate cake, mango shakes, tangy oranges, melting gelato, bollywood ishtyle, watching friends, ringing bells, singing loud, crumpled cloths, trendy earrings, wandering lanes, clicking frames, lonely nooks, tattered books, whispering sound, naughty smile, pecking thoughts, painting dreams, pinching surprises.. small things big happiness ....

a walk..

blanks

i live by myself
with emptiness
unsung feelings
un-happened moments

murmuring darkness

i ponder in silence

numbness in thoughts

unspoken words

entangling breath
suffocating mind

i sleep in turmoil

with crumpled dreams

shrinking solitudes

suffocating desires
filling the blanks

INDIA: Peter Bil'ak

On the way back to Europe, we had dinner at Indigo, Mumbai’s fine fusion of European and Indian cuisine. Just ten minutes later we were taking a taxi to the airport, and instead of the usual Mumbai marine drive, the driver took the Dharavi route because of the congested traffic. Minutes after leaving Colaba, the cosmopolitan mix of cultures, we are sucked into Asia’s largest slums. We stare out of the window and have difficulties digesting our dinner. Nothing could create a bigger contrast to the sophisticated atmosphere of the restaurant, where elegantly dressed Indians mix with European expats and tourists. From just outside the car we were offered an extremely disturbing look at the other reality of today’s India, alarming poverty and overpopulation. We had seen poor suburbs of Mumbai before, but the hour long drive through the slums was overpowering. The driver sped up, trying to spare us the sight, almost hitting the kids living in the tiny makeshift houses built on the road. The ride combined with the troubling scenery made me feel physically unwell. All the impressions of India came together, the new opportunities, the fast growing economy, the reality of the slums, the kindness of people, the eagerness to improve, and the resignation to fate. India is a country where all these contrasts coexist and if you see only one part it simply means that you ignored the others.

Design+Sustainability: Microsoft Sustainability

The future will be eco-friendly and extremely technological, that’s what Microsoft is promissing in its new video, Microsoft Sustainability, a collaboration between Seattle’s Oh Hello and the company.

The video is a glimpse of their future projects, like the one they presented at the end of 2007 called Surface which doesn’t relay on the use of a keyboard or a mouse for interaction, rather using its 30 inch screen for connectivity. To connect the computer with a cellphone, for example, you just have to put it on top of the screen.

More than just touchscreen, augmented reality and millions of technologies will be developed to make life easier, so that until 2019 the world will be much more eco-friendly.

Socotra Island...

An island that provides unique opportunity & challenges, has Arabia's greatest plant & animal diversity. Many animals & plants that live today on Socotra are found nowhere else on earth. An experience of a life, a dream destination of unusual records, a very rich mixture of archaeological, cultural, traditional arts, natural and historical heritage, a picture of a different age....one of my dream destination....
